Disneyland 2011

Ever since I can remember, I have wanted to take my kids to Disneyland. This year we FINALLY made it! It worked to our advantage that our kids are a bit older as they were both able to ride everything-no one was too short. We made the long drive to California in one very long day. It seemed like we would never get there! We decided that since we had just spent so much time in the car, we would have an "easy" day for our first day of the vacation. We got to the hotel and took the kids swimming, which they loved. The next day we explored Anaheim a bit and drove to The Long Beach Aquarium of the Pacific. It is a pretty cool aquarium and definitely puts the aquarium in Sandy to shame. We all had a great time there and were able to see all kinds of stuff. We were even able to touch small sharks. Pretty sweet since sharks are my favorite animal. After the aquarium, we went to Bubba Gumps restaurant and the kids loved it there. The next 3 days were spent in Disneyland, including one of those days that was Jaden's birthday. It was amazing to watch the kids faces totally light up and just see pure happiness from them! Jaden was so brave--he went on the Tower of Terror! At the time he said he hated it, but now that we've been home for a bit, he says it is his favorite ride. Lexi says her favorite is Splash Mountain. We made some memories that I hope I never forget. After having such a great time at Disneyland we decided we would take it easy for our last day before having to drive home. We drove back to Long Beach and went on a harbor cruise--it was short and sweet, but very fun. After having such a great time in California, we headed home the next day. We made the drive home in one day as well. I haven't been too fond of driving after the marathon drives we did on our vacation. We've been back for 2 months, so I've been a bit of a slacker getting this posted. I took a ton of pictures, but I'll try to narrow it down, so there aren't a million of them here!

I'm really grateful to have such an amazing family to go through life with!

Halloween 2011

This year for Halloween, my father in law had a big backyard BBQ. Joe was able to buy some premium burgers from his work, Red Robin, so it was pretty sweet! In total, probably about 300 people came over. Because we were busy helping with the BBQ, Joe's brother took the kids trick-or-treating; they had so much fun! I went to the kids parade at school earlier in the day and was only able to get a few pictures as they ran by. Lexi was an angel and Jaden was Wolverine. Joe and I didn't dress up, so I just added a few pictures of us from the day. I'm so happy I have such sweet children, it really made the day a breeze!

We had a great Easter. Joe's dad was nice enough to get the kids some very cute church clothes, so we decided to have a family photo shoot. I don't know why, but we have hardly any pictures with all 4 of us together, so I was excited to get a few of those.

Valentine's Day

This year Joe had to work on Valentine's Day, so we celebrated a day late. We went out to eat at Red Robbin and got to spend a few awesome hours ALL ALONE! We don't get a whole lot of time with just Joe and I, so I love it when this happens. Neither of us go for the traditional sentimental gifts most of the time. It's not that they aren't cute, but I like to give him stuff he really wants instead of something that is just appropriate for the holiday. Anyway, I gave Joe some XBOX Live points that he's been wanting. He was such a sweetheart and took me shopping for a new purse. He doesn't like shopping, so this was awesome. For the kids, we gave them each a small box of chocolates to celebrate the holiday and they each had a Valentine's party at school. I got to help Alexis make a Valentine's Box this year which was a lot of fun. I hope your Valentine's Day was as enjoyable as ours.

Joe's Birthday: The Big 27

Joe's birthday was about a week ago. He had to work, but we definitely made the best of it. He's been wanting the Kinect since before it even came out. So, he finally got one along with a couple of games. If you know Joe, you know he LOVES to dance. One of the games is a dancing game and it is so fun to watch everyone play it. I look like a nutcase with no rhythm, but Joe looks amazing playing it. I'll try to take a picture of him playing.

I am so proud of him and am so appreciative of everything he does for our family. I hope you had a great birthday babe!

Christmas 2010

Christmas was pretty awesome this year. We kept things fairly low key and it was nice not to stress so much over everything like I usually do. We all did Christmas morning with my parents and it worked out great! I took a ton of pictures, but narrowed it down to a select few. ; )

Halloween 2010.

Alexis decided she wanted to be a rock star for Halloween and Jaden decided to be an army man. We had a good time figuring out these costumes. I made Alexis' tutu and I'm glad that it turned out. We had a pretty good day. We went to the ward trunk-or-treat, went trick or treating in a few neighborhoods and saw Grandpa Steve at home after that. Then we topped of the night with a little Hocus Pocus. That is such a cute movie.

We got the most adorable little min pin chihuahua mix this week. The people we bought her from got her from the Humane Society originally. She was abused and so she is a little bit skiddish. She seems to really prefer women over men. She is the sweetest thing ever and loves to cuddle. After losing our dog Max to a car earlier this year, she is a much needed addition to our family.

Incredible Pizza, The Fair

I am a bit behind in getting this posted, but Alexis' birthday was great. She went to Cowabunga Bay with her grandpa and brother the day before her birthday. The day of, we went to Incredible Pizza where Joe works as a manager. It was great fun. A few of her favorite things she received for her birthday were a pink hippo Zoobie and a couple fashion sketch pads. This girl is so into fashion, it is not even funny. =)

Jaden's Cast Comes OFF

Jaden got his cast off a little over a week ago. He has to wear a splint type thing in between his fingers for at least another month. He gets to have it off for 6 hrs a day though so that is nice. My mom is selling five Jack Russell Terrier puppies. There are 4 boys and 1 girl. They each have very cute and unique coloring. Dew claws are done and tails have been docked. Coats are all smooth and mixed. The puppies are all 7 weeks old today. They are ready to go to new homes. Asking just $200 OBO for each puppy. Pure breed but not papered. Jaden's Surgery

Jaden had surgery on Wednesday to separate his fingers. He had this surgery once before when he was 8 months old. He was born with something called Poland Syndrome, he is missing his left pectoral muscle. As a side effect of this a lot of kids have abnormalities with their hands. Jaden was very fortunate. He has all 5 fingers and knuckles. Some kids don't have any fingers. Anyway, the surgery was to help separate some webbing of his fingers. This should help his hand to be more functional for Jaden. He already uses it like normal but he should be able to manipulate things better with his fingers now. He was really excited to have the surgery to get his hand fixed a little bit. His hand is smaller than his right hand which was not affected. It will never be the same size, but that's okay, it makes Jaden unique. =) Here are some pictures from before and after his surgery. We won't get to see his hand for a month when his soft cast will come off.

I can not believe it. My little girl is 7. It is crazy how fast time flies. Joe & I took the kids to Lagoon with Josh, Jessie & Kylee. It was SO much fun. Alexis said it was "my best birthday EVER". I didn't bring my camera to Lagoon because we went on so many water rides and I didn't want the camera to get ruined. Here are some pictures of Lexi with her ice cream cake later that night. Her favorite ride was the Rattlesnake Rapids. We all got pretty soaked on that one. It was funny, we took Jaden & Lexi on the Tidal Wave and it really freaked Lexi out. While Lexi was talking to her daddy after riding it she whispered: "I think my mommy is trying to kill me!" It was kind of funny. I didn't think she would be as afraid as she was from going on the Tidal Wave.

Since the girls didn't have school I decided to let Kylee come over and have a sleepover. I can't say much sleeping actually happened, but I think they had fun. All four of us tried to sleep on my queen size bed and let's just say it wasn't very successful. Apparently Lexi kicked Jaden, and he said: "Mommy, Lexi kicked me in my legpit." I started laughing it was so funny. I took a picture of his "legpit" so all of you can learn about this new part of your body, also known as the back of the knee. =)

The kids had a great Christmas this year. Alexis got a Nintendo DS that she has been asking for for about 2 years, so she was very happy. Jaden got Spike the dinosaur and was very happy. Lexi came to work with me today since she is out of school for Christmas break. We tied her tooth to a string and did the old door trick. It didn't come out, but it loosened it a lot. I pulled it out with my fingers and now she has a whole new smile!

Christmas parties anyway. We went to a morning Christmas party at my grandma's house on Saturday and I swear all the kids were on a sugar high, it was crazy! It was great to get together with family and see everyone I don't get to see very often.

By the end, the kids were wiped out and ready for a nap. It was a good time though.

Tooth Watch...

Alexis has this tooth that is growing in behind another one. I was hoping the baby tooth in front would fall out in front, so she wouldn't have to have the dentist pull it. Anyway, it is finally loose and almost ready to come out.

Last night, the funniest thing happened. Lexi was laying her head on my lap and I was gently wiggling the tooth to see if we could get it to come out. Jaden was sitting right next to me watching it all. Suddenly he grabs his checks together in this great "oh no" expression, and says "Mommy, don't pull Lexi's tooth, she will looks like a DUFUS!" It was the funniest thing I had heard. I just started laughing. I told him it was normal for little teeth to come out and big teeth to come in.

Now he is anxiously awaiting his teeth falling out. It was just so funny. I have never used the word dufus and have no idea where he learned it, but his timing was just hilarious.

I really think he is an insomniac. He does not go to sleep. No matter what I do, he could stay up all night. But, he sleeps really well when he's with me, so I guess that is why I cave. Or maybe that is just what I tell myself to avoid looking like a pushover. =)

I love it. Jaden is hilarious. He has this fascination with McDonalds. If he had things his way, he would eat there all 3 meals. He always begs for a happy meal, and being the Scrooge McDuck that I am, I usually say no, I just don't feel like spending 4 bucks each kid every time through the dreaded drive up.

The other day we went to the McDonald's drive in and he was begging for a happy meal, the usual response of no was uttered, and he said to me: "But mom, you go to work all of the days, and you make all of the money, so where is your money!?!" It was great. It seriously cracked me up. He is such a cute little boy if I do say so myself.

Usually I am totally done Christmas shopping by now. I mean done. Not this year. I have only bought 2 things, it is really quite pathetic. I don't much like crowds and I was hoping to avoid them, but with Christmas being so close, I think that will not be happening. And to make matters worse, I am not too creative this year. Thanksgiving was great this year, I wasn't able to make it to my grandma's house, but aside from that it was really good. We always go to the skating rink for a pie party every year after dinner. I think that is the kid's favorite part of the day.

This may just be the best way ever to scrapbook without too much work. I've decided to give it a shot. The downer is my camera is broken, but I should be getting a new one soon. I'm just going to add a few of my favorite pictures of Alexis & Jaden for the time being.
